Metis had remained silent throughout Lapine's plight. Her expression held none of the sick sadism that her captor's would have, in fact, her's was very neutral. She was a kind and caring individual, but she was also wise enough to let others settle their disputes on their own. Life was about learning, and Metis couldn't always be the teacher. Aino had flown off of Seersha's head and confronted her sister, hovering while placing her hands on her hips. "See, now she's uncomfortable!" she scolded. Aina had replied "I-I didn't know!" Aina then turned to Metis and asked "Why didn't you stop me!?" with slightly angry expression. Metis had let out a short sigh and asked "How can you learn a world that I shelter you from?" A statement that would reveal her intentions, while also making the fairy puff her cheeks and pout. "You still haven't made things right, Aina." Metis said in a soft tone. Aino had let her head drop while also grabbing her own hands. She did feel bad, and while she didn't want to accept that she'd done something wrong, she also knew that she'd been told that not all demi humans liked being touched. It was only now that she realized just how serious it could be for some. Aina had slown closer to Lapine, just enough so she could be within a foot or so of her, instead of almost eye touching range. If Lapine had looked to Metis for any help, she would find that the goddess was sitting quite contently with the same neutral expression as before. Aina had reached out a hand halfway and stopped before shyly retracting it, she didn't want to make matters worse. The fairy looked up at Lapine with a sad, guilty expression. "Umm... I'm really sorry. I didn't know you didn't like being touched, I promise I won't do it again." Aina had grabbed one of her arms at the elbow nervously. She didn't have any experience with this sort of thing, so the situation was uncomfortable for her. "Umm... I-If you'd like... I can... make sure that the others keep some distance?" Aina's offer was accompanied by a hopeful expression. Hope that Lapine would accept the offer, and not hold this against her till the end of time. Aino had flown right next to Aina and raised her hand high, exclaiming "I'll help, too!" with a bright smile. Metis had floated to a standing position and said "I'll leave it to the two of you, then." before kneeling down and extending both her hands, one to each of the adventurers. "Come with me, please." she'd say while offering to help them get up. If either had declined letting her help them up, they would notice no negative expression from Metis. It was common for people to want to help themselves, sometimes even if they were incapable of it. Metis would begin floating up the central stairs, taking a left and heading to a large doorway that lead to a long corridor. While moving, Aino would find pleasure in sitting on Seersha's shoulder since he hadn't shown any disdain for it like Lapine, and Aina would stay near Lapine, but not on her. While walking... floating- Metis would spin around and continue floating backwards. "It's not uncommon for those new to my house to focus only on adventuring. It's the only way to make money, and there's many perks that come along with it. The issue I see with that, is that I've lost many of my children to the dungeon, and all of them had focused on the only door they saw open." Metis had stopped moving at the end of the hall, her back a couple feet from a large, ornate, wooden door. "You'll find various doors like this one throughout the house. These are here to remind my children that there's so very much more to life than killing monsters. Accolades associated with glory are nice, and I'm always proud to give you all them when they're earned; but, there are other doors to explore. Seersha, you have a very gentle nature despite inner turmoil. This is a sign of strength- not letting adversity turn you bitter and callus." Metis had floated aside and used one of her hands to gesture to the door. "Remember that nothing in this world is what it seems, and even your logic is illogical. This door will provide you with a place where you can find your youth, and many friends who don't care what you look like, or what you've done. They only care about who you are, and what you choose to do with yourself." If Seersha had shown hesitance, Aino would say "Go on, open it!" cheerfully. Once the door was opened, the two would be greeted by a sight that only the House of Wonders could produce... Behind the door would be a land filled with vines and dense brush. Flowers of all kinds, many of which non-existent anywhere else adorned the floor and trees. The sounds of birds chirping in the canopy could be heard. A monkey, hanging by its tail and eating a strange looking fruit, had looked at the new arrivals but didn't get any closer than it already was. Rustling could be heard just before a small swarm of winged elves darted out from a nearby vine cluster, flying past the group. They doubled back, one of them saying "Hey Metis!" and another asking "Are they new?" referring to Lapine and Seersha. Two of the fairies, one male and one female, had already began approaching Lapine but were quickly stopped when a ring of green energy formed around Lapine. The ring was fairly wide, and consisted of a dust-like material that was shown to be incapable of stopping anything when a leaf fell through it. The warm smiles on the two fairies' faces had turned to confused looks as they stared at Aina, who had her hands held out- clearly the one making the ring. Aina had moved forward said "She's a very polite hume-bunny, but also a little bit shy and gets unnerved easy." the green circle faded as this was said and the male fairy approached Aina and whispered something in her ear before turning to the girl and all three of them smiled and nodded before vanishing off into the brush. The other two fairies had stayed behind with Aino and kept their distance from both adventurers. One of them waved and asked "What'r your names?" in a friendly tone. Once the two introduced themselves, or if they opted not to, Metis would say "This is the Enchanted Forest. It exists only within the house, and stretches quite far. The fae here are its caretakers. They also take pleasure in entertaining themselves by showing adventurers to random places that they like." "Heeey!" the voice of Aina would call out. When Metis turned to see them coming from behind her, the three fairies were carrying a flower that was as wide across as they were tall. It was blue and the edges were glowing, and they brought it over to where Lapine was. Aina had a bright smile as she said "For you!" in hopes that it would help her get more used to their presence. Whether Lapine had taken it or not would be her choice, and she would get a warm smile from all three of them if she took it. Metis would ask them both "Do you wish to explore a little?" If they did, Metis would say that she'll follow their lead.

Metis leaned back and gave Lapine a gentle smile, her jumpy attitude and eccentric personality was quite cute to the goddess. However, before Metis could actually say anything, the sound of buzzing was heard approaching quickly. Metis didn't actually keep any insects inside the main house, but some of the members had found them in the Enchanted Forest, as well as some of the other places where it would make sense for bugs to be. However, this time, it was no insect invasion taking place. -WHACK, WHACK-
Two winged creatures that both had the ears of an elf would smack right into Seersha's forehead at max speed, each of them being no taller than three inches, and each sporting a pair of translucent wings. Like a sticker with lead on the top, the first one peeled off and fell to the ground, landing on her back with a soft 'puff' from how tiny and light she was. She raised her hand and said "I'm okay...!" as though anyone had even asked. The second one peeled off and fell, landing right on top of her, knocking the air out of the one with a pink belt. The one on the bottom's arms and legs lifted up and fell back down flat on the ground and she said "I'm less okay..." in a slightly pained tone. Metis pouted at them and said "How many times do I have to tell you two? No racing in the house." in an almost-motherly tone. The one wearing a blueish-green belt, who was sitting on the stomach of the one wearing the pink belt, rested her hands on her legs and looked up at Metis with a big smile and said "Sorry, Metis!" to which Metis replied "That cheeky smile of yours doesn't say 'sorry' to me." It was then that the other fairy said "Sorry, Metis..." while trying to push the first off her. The sitting Fairy's wings began to flutter and she flew off of her friend, quickly noticing the bunny girl and dragon man. She seemed to light up with glee, the smile on her face growing ever wider as she darted up and flew near Lapine's face. She was inches from Lapine's eye, the big smile on her face growing with curiosity about if this person would play with her. "I'm Aina!" she said in a tone that would be much louder if she wasn't just under three inches tall. The fairy then darted around Lapine, circling her multiple times before popping up under Lapine's hair. "Hey, you're a hume-bunny!" she exclaimed and flew out from the white locks to go next to her ear and give it a gentle rub. "Uwa! You're ears are so soft!" If Lapine began panicking, Metis would say "It's alright, Lapi. They're as much part of this house and you are... Their kind are quite energetic, but very friendly." Meanwhile Aina would be rubbing her cheek against Lapine's ear saying "Fuzzy, fuzzy, fuzz!" rhythmically. While this was going on, the other fairy, who had a pink belt, would appear sitting on Seersha's right horn with just as big a smile as her sister's. Her back was turned to Seersha, right until she let herself fall and used her legs to dangle from his horn, the force of gravity seeming to not apply to her skirt as it didn't flip upside down at all... "Hi there!" she said in a joyous tone. "I'm Aino! That's my sister, Aina!" she began rocking back and forth, still dangling from the protrusion. "You guys must be new. Are you liking it here? Have you visited the Enchanted Forest? We live there! You should visit!" she never gave Seersha the chance to reply, it was like a child on espresso... Aino then straightened her legs and let herself fall, immediately flapping her wings while flipping and getting even closer to Seersha's face, right in front his eye. "You know, you're pretty cute!" she'd exclaim before flying a circle around his head and landing on the dragon man's shoulder. Aino slowly walked along his shoulder, exaggerating her steps while pressing a finger to her cheek. "How should I welcome a handsome member...?" she questioned. A mischievous smile trickled its way across her face and her wings began fluttering again. "Oh, I know." she said and flew right up to Seersha's cheek, leaned forward, and pressed her lips against it. A very soft smack was produced by the fairy's greeting kiss, and she flew back to do another circle around his head and land, sitting on the top of his head. "Count yourself lucky, mister. Not everyone gets a kiss from a pretty girl!" "Ahem." Metis said, causing both fairies to turn and see her with her hand cupped over her mouth. "You've both had your chance to meet the new members, perhaps it best to show them where you came from." the goddess would then look at the two, Lapine and Seersha, and ask "Would you both like to see? I promise you won't be disappointed."

-THUD- And more thuds sounded off as books hit the floor, some of them being quite old and no longer found on any market stand, others having never existed outside of the House of Mysteries. The music stopped with paper birds flying off from the shock of the sudden interruption, even the girl with rabbit ears, Lapine, had been startled by the sudden noise. Metis had ceased playing her flute and looked at the source of the commotion, Seersha, with a slightly curious expression. A small giggle escaped her as she sent a gentle smile in his direction. The flute was released and it vanished from existence while Metis began getting up. While most... or rather, all people used their feet to walk, Metis was Metis and had no such logic while inside her own home. When Metis got up, rather than standing on her feet like all the normal gods and goddesses did, she was floating a few inches off the ground, and began floating over to where Sheersha was. When she stopped, she was floating to meet him at eye level and leaning forward so her face was a few inches from his. "For such a strong looking man, you're quite clumsy, Seersha." she commented with a bright smile. Metis began floating around Seersha, never turning her face away from him as she did so- like she was a tidally locked satellite, or something. "Hmmm..." she said while doing this quick orbit. Metis stopped while facing Seersha and gently poked him in the middle of his forehead, saying "Poke!" and smiling at him. "You don't need to be so tense, Seersha. You're home, you should relax a bit more!" She then floated away and kneeled down where Lapin was curled up, holding her head and seemingly lost in her own little world. Metis gently poked at her head while saying "Lapi..." in as gentle a tone as possible to reduce how alarmed the girl would get from the sudden poking. "It's okay, Lapi." she said and slowly moved her hand to take just one of the bunny girl's, and slowly lower it from the spot she was hit. "You're okay. Here..." she would say, holding out one of her hands. In the middle of it, a square sheet of paper would appear from nowhere and fold itself repeatedly to form a small, palm sized, paper rabbit that would begin moving and hopping around, before hopping down to the floor and hopping away into the distance. "I guess that one's more interested in exploring its new home." she said with a light chuckle. Metis stood up and floated a couple feet back to give Lapine some breathing room and did a quickly twirl in the air. "How are you both? Have you taken any time to look around?" she asked, her tone being quite friendly. She then looked down to the books that fell and the ones that were damaged and gave a gentle wave of her hand, causing them to lift from the floor. The ones that had pages fall out reassembled themselves and began floating away, returning to making their way to wherever they were going before.

The House of Mysteries was something that very few of the adventurers of the world were able to see, and even those who were part of the familia were completely unable to see everything within the house. It wasn't that there were any areas that were off limits, but rather, the house was hilariously massive- to the point where new members always asked Metis how it was that no one was able to find the place. It was so large, in fact, that many members had only spoken to Metis when she invited them to the familia in a dream...
The halls of the House of Mysteries were vast and seemingly endless, to the point where Metis had marble centaurs roaming them to make sure no one got lost. For those halls that were nearest the main entrance to the house, which actually didn't have any door; but rather a large crystal ball that teleported members in and out, they would hear the sound of a flute being played... Those who followed the sound would come to the main entrance, where a large water fountain was in the middle of the entryway. The fountain had various fish swimming around in it, and some swimming in the air space above the fountain. While this on its own was a spectacle to see, the true spectacle for today would be a somewhat short woman sitting on the edge of the fountain's border...
Metis's crimson eyes were closed as she blew air into the mouthpiece for the flute, gently lifting and pressing her fingers to create a gentle tune. Her long, white hair had dangled down behind her, with the last few inches being inside the water of the fountain. Around her was a swarm of paper birds, some standing on her shoulders, one on her head, one on her flute was moving as her fingers got closer to it. This one wasn't afraid of her, it just didn't want to be in the way. More birds were standing on the various fixtures in the room, all silent and watching their creator play for them. Nearby was a marble centaur who was laying down, bowing his head and closing his eyes in a very relaxed manner. This would be the scene that anyone passing by would come across, and it was what made the House of Mysteries the most unique house of them all.

miscellaneous Being the Goddess of Mysteries, no one actually knows what Metis' power is. Her actual influence on the world has been incredibly minor over the passing of time, and she doesn't appear in any history books using it. Those who meet her, namely her Familia members, would know her for being mostly calm with a playful side. She enjoys conversation and learning, and is fairly difficult to enrage. [break][break] The only thing more mysterious about Metis than the fact that no one knows what her power is, is that Metis never attends meetings with the other gods. If they're lucky, and the meeting is held in a mortal-accessible location, Metis will send someone to represent her house. That, or she sends a letter to let them know that she's "there in spirit, as the mortals say." [break][break] One power that Metis uses frequently is that she seems to be able to change her looks, seemingly with three restrictions. The first is that her form must always be female. The second is that it must always have white or silver hair. Lastly, she will always have crimson eyes. Members of her Familia aren't sure if the form they're used to is her real one, or just the one she prefers using. Most are just happy she chooses a single form for them to identify her by... [break][break] As a small note, these restrictions haven't been confirmed to be true by Metis, they're just what her Familia members assume to be the restrictions to her form change. She could have no restrictions and they'd never know it.

If you asked a God...
Most gods are about as 'in the know' about Metis as the humans are. Metis had came about, literally, out of nowhere. One day, she had appeared on the scene and was very young in her mentality. She had wanted to help the mortals and grant them blessings, but was constantly made to stand by and let the fully recognized gods and goddesses do their work. While Metis had been unhappy with this decision, it wasn't without reason. At this time, no one had known what her power was, where her divinity laid, and how she would use that power in the future. There was no record of her, and as such, she was a liability for both good and less good, gods. [break][break] Metis didn't gain much noteriety among the other gods due to her generally quiet nature. She mostly shadowed other gods as they went about acting on the world, or at least, those who would let her. She was always asking questions about their decisions, about the mortals who worshiped them, and the world that they were govorning. She had taken an interest in the various races and how many of them were similar, each doing their best to survive and going to great lengths to do so. One of the gods, a rather passive one, had begun spending time with her and answering her hail of questions. [break][break] In her later years, still rather early when the history of life is taken into account, it was discovered that Metis could change how she looked. Some had called her the Goddess of Trickery, since she would assume a different face and body in order to make the others think there was a new person around. She had later moved on to appearing in the mortal world and use her power to trick other gods into trying to win her over, none of which succeeded. They were later humiliated when their lack of 'action' was joked about. This phase was short lived as the jokes quickly got boring to Metis, so no one had gotten a chance to find out more about the Red-Eyed, Snow-Haired woman's mischief. [break][break] Metis had spent the remainder of her years with very little interaction with the other gods. Some times, she would descend to the world below to help the mortals, and it was found by the earlier gods what her powers truly were, and just how dangerous she was. A tribe of humans had asked for her power to revitalize a war torn land, give life to trees and give them an abundance of metal to make tools from. They had later used this prosperity to wage a war on other tribes, forcing those tribes to work for them, their women becoming factories for making new warriors, and men being forced into incelibacy. This had angered Metis, to see her benevolence being used for destruction. [break][break] After several years, Metis had, had enough of watching this and wrought a plague on the tribe. Their greatest and most powerful warriors had aged into their final days, the unborn were given damning conditions, the trees that were once bountiful were made brittle and useless, and their materials were just as good. All from the original tribe had been cursed so that weapons disintegrated in their hands, and their muscles turned to jelly when they struck another being. Their slaves were quick to learn of their curse, and made no hesitation to rise against them. However, their slaves had not learned from their masters and in turn tried the same attrocities. It was a year before the first city had been taken by them, and a single day before all of them, including the members of the sieged city, had vanished. [break][break] It was learned that Metis had been the cause for this disappearance, as she openly admitted to "Erasing her mistake" as she put it. After that day, however, Metis had never once spoken to the other gods about being involved with the mortals. She had granted no further blessings, nor did she grant curses. She hadn't tricked anyone, she hadn't spoken out of term... At the same time, she was every bit as curious as before. She would make small jokes with the others, when possible, but never flex her powers in the slightest. No one knows Metis' power because she's never shown them how it works, or what her limits were. All that's known is that she is, just like all gods, incredibly powerful.
After the dungeon showed up...
The gods had all begun descending in mass to the mortal world, Metis had taken notice and decided that if so many had gone, it would be safe enough for her to go as well. She had taken notice of the various mortals falling in line under the gods, taking up blessings and rushing to their deaths, all for the sake of money. The gods were starting them up for entertainment purposes. Some had other reasons, but many of them found the mortals fun to pit against each other. As time went, and not much time at that, Metis had seen houses that were started and forced the mortals to do atrocious acts against each other. Metis had still yet to start her own, she was just an observer. [break][break] Metis had been convinced by her old friend to start up her own Familia. She had decided that it was too dangerous to make one that was obvious. It hadn't been long, but there were already adventurers who were infiltrating other houses to steal what little bit they had. Any members that she had gotten would have to be of her own choosing. They would also need a reason to stay, something that lets them know that they would be taken care of. [break][break] Metis had made her Familia, naming it the House of Mysteries. It was appropriate since she had made it focus on the hopes and dreams of those who were part of it. She made it a place where her power was on display for all to see, and they would know that the god they worked for was powerful and wouldn't let them fail. The amount of detail she had put into her house would show her dedication, and the rooms they were given showed that she cared.
Joining the House of Mysteries
It's impossible to find the House of Mysteries if you're truly looking for it. The only way to find the House of Mysteries is for Metis to show you the way. For almost all of the members, they have a very vivid dream... They find themselves moving through the woods, fog everywhere. They're lost, but a faint light in the distance guides then through the fog. No matter how much they run towards it, the light never gets closer. Eventually, they find their way to a log cabin. Inside the cabin is a warm fire, as well as many things one would expect to find. On the table is one thing that's very much out of place, a necklace with a heart attached made of diamond. When they do this, an extremely young girl with white hair and red eyes appears, sitting on the bed. She speaks with the would-be adventurer for some time, never onces giving them her name. She doesn't admonish them for entering her shack or touching her pendant. She seems geniunely interested in them, asking them questions and making small jokes where appropriate. Afterwards, she introduces herself and invites them to join her familia. Those who accept are able to find the shack hidden in the forest, but only when they seek it out on their own. Those who betray the familia, or those who try divulging the secret of where it is find that they're never able to find the shack again, and the people they told are also unsuccessful. [break][break] It's not uncommon for Metis to invite people who are lost in life, alone and forgotten. People that are on the edge of despair, or have been thrown out from other familias. She also seeks out those who she sees potential in, people who show initiative and know what they want in life. People who have a dream that seems too fantastical to be made real. Naturally, she avoids those who have less than favorable intentions.
Inside the House
The House of Mysteries has also been described by the long time members as a House of Wonders. It's a place where paper birds fly around, tweeting as though they were truly the real deal. Waterfalls flow upwards, things that shouldn't move are perfectly able to. Large, marble, centaur statues roam the halls as its guards and guides for those who get lost in its many twisting corridors. A grand library, filled with books seemingly without number is within the many halls of the House of Mysteries. Those within don't need to look for a book, just think of what book they need, if they know what it is. Those looking for a specific type of book find that those books come to them, and let them choose. There are rooms that lead to vast forests with fairies and bioluminescent plants. Doors that lead to worlds that put people at peace, even ones that let members go to places in the city that saves them from having to walk vast distances.
