[nospaces] [attr="class","MItxtbox"] Yes all the way! At first Koko might not see any potential in someone so timid and just plan on giving her a quick tutorial and sending her on her way. When she realizes how quick Lapine is on the uptake and her affinity with magic, though, she'll give her a chance, and from there their teacher-student relationship will unfold. How about a thread at the Guild? Koko is a familiar face for adventurers or supporters alike, as she has worked for years behind the counter of the Adventurer’s Guild. Her job is to appraise magic stones, loot, and other items and exchange them for valis, but she’s well-known for acting as an unofficial dungeon adviser at times. She tends to take promising new adventurers and supporters under her wing so that she can benefit from their future successes. She’s approachable, helpful, and knowledgeable, but she doesn’t like to talk much about herself. Due to the fact that she seems to know everything, she is often affectionately called “the informant.”[break][break] Speaking of which, there is someone else who goes by the same title, except they’re located in the seediest parts of Orario’s crime underworld. If you ask the right questions to the right people at the right times, you might catch wind of a rumor about the informant. Every aspect of their identity is unknown since they communicate solely through untraceable letters, but they can tell you anything you want to know… for a price.[break][break] What a coincidence, huh? [/PTab={margin-top:-30px;margin-left:-10px;width:314px;height:452px;background-color:#111;}] [PTab= [attr="class","MYPleftbutton"][attr="class","far fa-star"] ] [attr="class","MYPrighttxtbox"] [attr="class","MYPrighttop"] friends [attr="class","MYPrighttxt"]
Since Koko is extremely interested in networking, she’ll go great lengths to befriend people from all walks of life. She’s easy to get along with and there’s a tangible benefit to befriending her due to her wealth of information, Guild affiliation, and numerous connections, so there is plenty of incentive to take her hand. However, she doesn’t let anyone get too close to her—her relationships exist solely on the basis of mutual benefit. Think of it like this: if you’re the video game protagonist, she’s the ever-helpful tutorial NPC. You and her can hang out and have lively conversations, but ultimately she’s using you to advance her career and connections. You might as well use her too.[break][break] Koko is capable of causing people to think they’re better friends than they really are if she feels that it will benefit her to do so. She’s especially partial to a technique called breadcrumbing in which she drops tidbits of information about herself that cause people to think they know the “real” her, when in truth they know nothing about her at all. Don’t be misled.[break][break] NOTE: if you want a prearranged relationship (i.e. it is assumed Koko and your character have already known each other for awhile and forged a bond) then let me know! The premise of Koko’s character is that she already has a vast network of connections, so I’d appreciate it. [/PTab={margin-top:-30px;margin-left:-10px;width:314px;height:452px;background-color:#111; }] [PTab= [attr="class","MYPleftbutton"][attr="class","fas fa-bolt"] ] [attr="class","MYPrighttxtbox"] [attr="class","MYPrighttop"] enemies [attr="class","MYPrighttxt"]
Koko doesn’t have enemies. She just doesn’t. She can work with even the most difficult of personalities with a smile on her face for the sake of networking. She doesn’t seem capable of hating or even disliking others. It’s hard to hate her too, since her only fault seems to be that she can be infuriatingly cryptic sometimes, and also a little mischievous. Not to mention that she sees no benefit in making an enemy of anyone. She can often be found playing the mediator in any given conflict.[break][break] If you find out more about her than you’re meant to, though, you might have to be… dealt with.[break][break] NOTE: Koko’s my casual character (I’m more focused on Ismene), so I’d appreciate if you wouldn’t have your characters discover the skeletons in her closet… for now. Later on, when she has a lot more to lose, I’ll open up the floor for some very dramatic expose-the-liar plots. Thank you for understanding. [/PTab={margin-top:-30px;margin-left:-10px;width:314px;height:452px;background-color:#111;}] [PTab= [attr="class","MYPleftbutton"][attr="class","far fa-heart"] ] [attr="class","MYPrighttxtbox"] [attr="class","MYPrighttop"] lovers [attr="class","MYPrighttxt"]
Koko does date, but only very casually. She might approach you first, but she’ll let you know from the start that she just wants to have a brief, fun fling that will end on good terms, and you can take it or leave it. She will never enter into a serious romantic relationship with someone, even if it’s for a short while. [/PTab={margin-top:-30px;margin-left:-10px;width:314px;height:452px;background-color:#111; }] [/PTabbedContent={height:452px;background-color:#111;}] |

[nospaces] [attr="class","MItxtbox"] @eisen + koko I think Koko would fall squarely into the acquaintances territory. Eisen is a supporter who hangs out at the Guild house and Koko is a Guild appraiser, so they would be seeing a lot of each other. They would both benefit from at least a somewhat friendly relationship. Koko’s easygoing and eager to network, so Eisen’s abrasive personality wouldn’t be too much of a stumbling block for her.[break][break]
One thing they have in common is their wealth of dungeon-related information. I can see them comparing notes from time to time, filling in the gaps in each other’s knowledge, theorizing about things they’re unsure about. Koko would be quick to notice the topics he’s interested in and include them in the conversation to get him to warm to her. Even though their relationship would be unlikely to go further than that, it would be fun to have them put their minds together once in awhile. Thoughts?

[nospaces] [attr="class","MItxtbox"] As an item appraiser at the Guild and an (unofficial) dungeon advisor, Koko would be more than happy to take Ejder under her wing as she does with many other promising young dungeoneers. She would see potential in his useful support abilities but be concerned (as far as being concerned about wasting an investment) about his overly trusting nature, so she’d try to steer him toward trustworthy adventurers who wouldn’t take advantage of his naivete. In return, she’d want to hear about all the cool stories he has to tell about the people he’s met and the things he’s seen, in case he might have picked up any tidbits of information that would be useful to her. Thoughts? “Koko!” The quill paused in her hand. “ Yes?” Koko said, tucking her clipboard under her arm as one of her Guild colleagues, a panicked half-elf, ran up to her. Bemused, Koko watched as she dropped to her knees and clasped her hands together in supplication. “Please license someone for me!” Koko blinked. It wasn’t uncommon for a colleague to ask her help once in awhile, but never for a job outside her jurisdiction. “ I’m just an appraiser, you know. I’m not certified to license. Plus, I’m in the middle of taking inventory right now.” She gestured at her surroundings, which consisted of labyrinthine ceiling-high shelves stocked with magic stones. Someone would come by later in the afternoon to pick up a shipment, so she was on a time constraint. The half-elf winced. “I know, I know. And I’m really sorry to spring this on you, but… I just realized that it’s me and my boyfriend’s anniversary! And I totally forgot, so I didn’t take the day off, and I booked a license appointment for today, and now everything’s all messed up!” She proffered a stack of files she’d been hugging to her chest to Koko. “Look, all the info you’d need is here! All you have to do is make sure everything checks out and print out a license. You can stamp it under my name! If you get in trouble, I’ll say that it was all my idea and I forced you to do it! Coerced you! Under pain of death!” She seemed close to tears, so Koko decided to take pity on her. She was a quick learner, and anyway she wasn’t opposed to the prospect of meeting a brand new dungeoneer. Maybe they’d turn out to be interesting. “ Alright, alright. I’ll do it. That’s what friends are for, right? You go have fun with your boyfriend.” The half-elf sprung up and hugged Koko tight, twirling her around. “Thank you thank you thank you! I owe you one!” she chirped before turning on her heel and sprinting away. Koko exhaled slowly. She had work to do.
Koko emerged from the storeroom to behind the counter of the Guild’s licensing officials. A few colleagues shot her curious looks, but they didn’t ask questions. Koko was a reliable member of the Guild’s staff—they didn’t have to go out on a limb to assume that she was doing a favor for a friend. She slipped into the half-elf’s seat and fixed a sunny smile upon her face, setting the files onto the counter. “ Call me Koko. Your assigned licensing officer is… presently engaged elsewhere, so I’ll be taking her place. Don’t worry; I know what I’m doing.” Not totally a lie. She looked up at the person she was to license for the first time. “ Can I get a name?” notes: if your character has already been an adventurer/supporter for awhile, feel free to assume this thread takes place in the past. koko has been working at the guild for eight years if that’s relevant.

[attr="class","MAbody"] [attr="class","MAHwrapper"] [attr="class","MAHformat"] must we speak of the past? It's an unpleasant story, one where heroes don't win—cheaters do. Even so, will you listen?
well, if you insist. Our protagonist (in a loose sense of the word) didn't always live in the lap of luxury. She was, in fact, one of the countless nameless, parentless gutter children that thronged the streets of blessed Orario. The little raccoon girl trawled the sewers and canals, dug for food in garbage cans, and lurked around the marketplace and the Tower of Babel, keeping her eyes peeled for small treasures she could steal. It was a hard life, but not an unhappy one—she mingled easily with the other street urchins, roaming at night with them, terrorizing the peaceable citizens. She was a wild child, harboring no aspirations, no ambitions. Why would she? It never occurred to her that there might be more to life than this.[break][break]
That was, until she met him. The adventurer.[break][break]
The adventurer—let him remain nameless for the sake of anonymity—was a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed (literally) raccoon in his mid-thirties, still buoyant despite his decades of harsh dungeon experience. He had a magnetic presence, but he had withdrawn from his familia ever since his wife died of a terminal illness. One day, during a blizzard, he was trudging across the snow to his manor when he noticed the raccoon girl huddled by a lamppost with only rags to keep her warm.[break][break]
Perhaps he was tired of returning to an empty home, perhaps he felt a kinship with this other raccoon, perhaps he simply couldn't turn away from such a pitiful sight. Whatever his reason was, he took her by the hand, took her to his manor, and gave her a warm meal.[break][break]
What's your name? he asked her, drying her tail after a hot bath. She peered up at him with wide chestnut-colored eyes identical to his.[break][break]
Don't have one, was the response.[break][break]
Silence. Then: Koko. Can I call you that from now on?[break][break]
Sure. From there, his fate was sealed.[break][break]
Charmed by Koko's mischievous nature, the adventurer treated her like a princess, and soon enough like his daughter. She was already often mistaken for one due to their close resemblance, which was a misconception he stopped bothering to correct after the first few times. He jumped through hoops to officially adopt her. He wasn't home much due to his adventures, but that was just fine for Koko. She was used to being alone, and in truth she didn't love her adoptive father as much as he loved her, though of course she never said so aloud. Koko was still the wily child she'd been on the streets. She gave her heart to no one.[break][break]
Koko went to school like a normal girl, made friends like a normal girl. Like most clever people, though, she was quick to grow bored. She was already wealthy due to her father's successful adventuring, and unlike other raccoons, she wasn't as focused on accumulating extra cash. Instead, she cultivated a taste for a different kind of wealth: information. Rumors, secrets, gossip, lies. These were infinitely more interesting to her than lifeless jewels and coins. She whiled away the tedium of everyday life by unearthing the sordid truths her peers kept locked under their beds, coordinating mini blackmail rings and ruining relationships while maintaining her pristine reputation as a kind, easygoing girl whose only fault was that she was a little too playful. What started as a hobby evolved into an obsession.[break][break]
Meanwhile, Koko's father had reached Level 4 to abundant praise. His first party members, who he had long since surpassed, grew maddeningly envious of his success and covetous of the wealth he possessed. They had a chance to take him down through an ambush if he was alone, but he was too often surrounded by other high-ranking members of his familia. They needed to find out the next time he was scheduled to go solo, and they agreed that the person most likely to know was his defenseless civilian daughter.[break][break]
They broke into the adventurer's manor while he was away but foolishly tripped the magic security system in the process. A split second before the system could blare an alert through the neighborhood and the Adventurer's Guild, Koko realized what was happening and deactivated the system. She stood poised to reactivate it if the teammates made any sudden moves. They had no choice but to negotiate with her.[break][break]
Koko had deactivated the system with the intention of extorting the teammates for hush money and possibly information. She hadn't expected their proposal: help us kill your father and we'll give you anything you want.[break][break]
She should have reactivated the system right then and there. She knew she should have. And yet. Anything?[break][break]
Though they were far from major names, the teammates had painstakingly worked themselves up to high rankers. Collectively, their influence could reach far and wide. Yes. Anything.[break][break]
Koko thought about her loving father, about everything he had done for her and given to her when he could have just left her to freeze alone on the streets so long ago. Koko thought about what the teammates could possibly give her that would be worth more than that.[break][break]
The answer was simple. [break][break]
I'll tell you everything you want to know. His schedule, his status, his spells, his attacks... his weaknesses. In return, tell me everything I want to know.[break][break]
A deal with the devil was struck. But who was the devil? Them, or her?
she bit the hand that fed her. Her father was found dead deep in the dungeon. From the wounds on his barely recognizable body, it was concluded that he had been overwhelmed by a wave of monsters, which then stripped him of his belongings. As his will dictated, everything in his possession went to his sole successor: Koko.[break][break]
After mourning for an appropriate period of time, Koko used her suddenly vast web of connections to get herself a job as a guild appraiser, examining loot and magic stones brought in by adventurers and exchanging them for valis, sometimes advising them. She claimed that it was to honor her father's memory, but in reality, it was just that there was no better place to network and gather information than behind the counter of the Adventurer's Guild. She can be found diligently working there today, taking a number of promising young adventurers under her wing.[break][break]
She's an ordinary enough woman by all accounts, but she is said to know everything. Both inside the Guild and out, she is called, simply, "the informant." Now, isn't that nice? [/PTab={margin-top:-21px; height:579px; width:600px; background-color:#111;border:1px solid #050505;margin-left: -221px;}] [PTab=[attr="class","MAtab"] ABILITIES ]
[attr="class","MAbody"] [attr="class","MASwrapper"] [attr="class","MASformat"] replication This spell allows Koko to replicate any object she touches, so long as it isn't ridiculously large (like a building), microscopic, or living. This replication will resemble the original object in every way. A usable object, however, will be one level less effective than the original. The replication will disappear after a certain amount of time, with larger and more complex objects disappearing more quickly than smaller and simpler objects. However, Koko can spend more time "charging" the spell such that the more time she spends actually casting the spell by touching the original object, the more time the replication is allowed to exist. Only one replication can be summoned at a time, and the replication cannot be made to disappear until it's used up or its time is up. (A replication cannot be carried over between threads.)[break][break]
The spell is chantless, though not always instantaneous on the occasions that Koko chooses to charge the spell. When charging the spell, Koko must devote her full focus to the original object.
