Khaor Blackheart grew up in a rough part of his town and had a very terrible childhood. His parents abandoned him at such a young age that their faces were lost in memory. For years Khaor struggled to stay alive, fighting for dumpster food and warm places to sleep. As he grew older things didn't get much better. He was still a homeless kid that was looking for someone to love him. After opening his heart to many people only to have it ripped from his chest and be betrayed over and over again, he went back to living in solitude. Doing what he could do to survive, he stole from the people of his town who turned their backs to him and caused mischief for many. He tried to uphold good morals despite the pain that's been caused to him, but as he lay shivering in an ally way alone and forgotten, he began to hate the world he lived in. Khaor had one goal in mind: become stronger and become an adventurer. If he could do that, maybe people would love him again?
For years Khaor trained his body with what food he could eat. The days were long and the nights were cold but he knew he would get nowhere if he sat around and waited to die. Eventually, Khaor was able to become a low class adventurer. His years of hard work paid off and he was finally getting ready to take on the 1st floor of the dungeon. At the entrance he met a beautiful elf girl by the name of Lilith. Lilith was a supporter who offered to support him. They ran through the first floor of the dungeon many times, gathering a ton of loot. They split it 60/40 and were able to build up quite a bit of financial support. Lilith taught Khaor many things and for the first time in his life, Khaor was happy. Eventually, he told her about his life savings that he'd been building up since he was five years old. Lilith learned about Khaors past and sympathized with him, comforting him in ways only a woman could. The two entered in a relationship after that night and continued to run the 1st floor of the dungeon together.
On on particular trip into the dungeon something was far more different than usual. There were monsters on the first floor he had never seen before. These new opponents were quite tough and he needed Lilith's help. He called out to her, but no response. He called out again, but nothing. Khaor had no choice but to defeat the monster he was currently fighting himself. The battle went on for nearly an hour before he managed to win. He fell to his knees, exhausted. If he goes any further he would surely die. But where had Lilith gone? Khaor headed back to the entrance of the dungeon and shielded his eyes from the outside light with his right hand. As he stepped out, a strong force slammed into the back of his head. Screams of anger erupted around him and a dazed Khaor struggled to look up. There was a crowd of people screaming at him, calling him a rapist, a criminal?! At the front of the crowd was Lilith, her clothes torn. She was bleeding and crying. What had happened to her?! "Lilith, what happened!? Are you alright!?""Shut up, rapist!" someone screamed from his right, delivering another blow to the side of his head. Khaor fell to his hands and knees, still exhausted from his previous battle. "We know what you did to this small elf girl!" he screamed. "You tricked and betrayed your own supporter, stole her money and forced her to go into this dungeon with you where you raped her! How dare you!" he screamed again, delivering another blow. The crowd rush him, ripping away different pieces of his armor until he was left in his plain black pants and shirt. Khaor looked towards Lilith, confused. "Lilith...why...?" he coughed, blood trickling from his mouth. "We've been through so much together, we made love! I told you things I've never told anybody and I gave my heart to you, why are you doing this!?" he screamed out, painfully being consumed by despair. His hand clenched his heart and tears fell from his face. "Why...How could you do this to me!?" he screamed. Lilith screamed in terror after Khaor screamed. "Make him stop! He's scaring me! He stole everything from me and I just want to go home! I don't want to see him anymore!" she cried, covering herself with what little clothes she had on. "He did so many t-terrible things to me..." she screamed, crying into another guys shoulder. The townsfolk erupted in a rage and began to attack Khaor until he was near death, stripping him of all the money he had saved during his life. He had nothing. At this point, Khaor couldn't feel. He just stared blankly at the ground, unable to move, his eyes glazed over. One of the townsfolk held a sword up, ready to finish the job. "N-No! Let him suffer with this the rest of his life. Nobody will want anything to do with him. He'll die on his own soon enough." she said. The townsfolk began to leave and Khaor looked up at Lilith for the last time, a disgusting spiteful smirk across her face as she walked away with all of his money. A heavy rain began to fall that washed his blood down the sidewalk. Khaor, was left to die. Broken and betrayed by the only person he loved.Words: 945tagged

[nospaces] [attr="class","APwrapper"] [attr="class","APtop"] [attr="class","APicon"] [attr="class","APtri"] [attr="class","APpulse"] [attr="class","APtext"] 'you poor child' [break][break] Footsteps broke through the silence, cutting the sound of the rain as it began to fall, dotting the landscape with each impact. A feminine figure clad in black closed the distance between them, her gaze overlooking the bruised and broken man with curiosity. In her hand was a bowed parasol, preventing the stinging rain from touching the immediate area while she got a longer look at him. [break][break] His gaze flashed to her own, though she was sure his vision was blurry and he could not make out her presence yet. His eyes, -- they were ringed with gold, captivating and stunning. Even with the bruises and tattered bloody clothing, he was alluring. Like a wildfire, he burned inside. No, this man wasn't like a wildfire --he WAS a wildfire; deadly, uncontrollable, and slightly out of his wits. [break][break] 'Oh, how betrayal breaks a soul' [break][break] The man would live, though not without assistance. It wouldn't be hard to take him back to her mansion, where she could make him a poultice for his wounds and let him rest. Up the stairs in her chamber, he would be laid on the sofa, stripped of his remaining clothing and cleaned of dirt and blood. Plagued with mortal emotion, there was no way to assume how long he would take to come back to reality. He was beaten to within an inch of his life; a traumatic experience. [break][break] Patiently the goddess waited by the hearth, staring into the flames, or had her nose between the pages of a book. Time passed different for an immortal being, --what feels like days to a mortal was minutes in the eyes of a god. She would wait until he was ready to grace her with his attention. They had much to discuss. As Khaor lay broken with his face in the mud he could hear footsteps approaching him. "This is it..." he thought, fading in and out of consciousness. Khaor managed to turn his head slightly and looked up at the new comer. She had a powerful presence unlike anything he's felt before. As he looked at her face his vision came back for an instant and his eyes widened at her beauty. A safe feeling washed over his body after seeing her and he officially collapsed into an unconscious state.
For days Khaor slept on the couch of the Goddess Izanagi, tormented by a never ending nightmare of the events that had recently unfolded. Just as the nightmare reached it's climax Khaor sprung off the couch and onto his feet, panting in a cold sweat. His long brown hair obscuring his eyes as he stared down at his bare feet. His body ached all over and he realized he had re-opened some of the injuries on his body. A bit confused as he stared at his feet he realized his member was in plain site. He was naked. Why?
Lifting his head, Khaor observed the room. The 6'2 muscular man seemed to of been brought in and taken care of since the time he saw...that woman that was sitting on the other side of the room. Khaor stood firm unphased by his own nudity before he turned to face the woman. "You're not normal," he started as he observed the beautiful woman. She clearly wasn't human. She must be a Goddess. "Why would a Goddess save someone like me?" he questioned, a bit on guard. He wasn't going to fall for anyone's trickery anymore, Goddess or not. Khaor didn't take any battle stance or anything but his muscles tightened, clearly ready if she were to try anything. The wounds that re-opened lit through his body like fire causing him to fall to one knee.

[nospaces] [attr="class","APwrapper"] [attr="class","APtop"] [attr="class","APicon"] [attr="class","APtri"] [attr="class","APpulse"] [attr="class","APtext"] Izanami had never been in a near dying state, or had ever fallen unconscious by means other than going to sleep, it wasn’t common for a divine to feel the effect of critical exhaustion after all. However, she had witnessed many mortal beings awaken, and few had ever happened in an awkward fashion. Despite Izanami’s surprise at her guests sudden vault from the sofa, her expression remained stoic, not averting her gaze from the book she was delving into.
[break][break]
In her peripherals she saw him begin to assess the situation, commenting on how peculiar she was acting, to which she would have agreed with him. After he spoke, she lifted her hand, raising one finger, giving the inclination that she needed one moment before she could indulge him with conversation. Finishing the chapter, she placed a linen cloth between the pages and set it down on the table before her. ”Is it strange for a mother to want to protect her children?” she responded, implying that as a goddess, she played a part in creation.
[break][break]
“You should lie back down. Your wounds have re-opened and I will need to apply more poultice to promote healing,” she said stepping towards a short dresser with a white basin on the top. She washed her hands in the water, drying them with a towel before turning to hopefully see her patient doing as he was told.
[break][break]
From a small wooden bowl her fingers dipped into a smooth paste that put off an interesting floral scent. The color resembled that of moss upon a stone, with colorful specks to break up the texture. ”Stay still,” she asked with a more demanding tone, and her hand reaching out to touch his skin in various places.
[break][break] “If you want, I can fetch something for the pain. It does not appear that you have a fever, so none of your wounds have been infected, --thankfully.”

After Khaor had asked his questions he noticed her lift a finger, telling him to give her a moment. He gritted his teeth in anger. Why do woman feel that he is beneath them? Did his awakening happen at a too inconvenient time for her? His body felt hot in anger despite not having any clothes on. He crossed his arms and stared at her from across the room as he waited for her to finish. She may be a woman but she is still a divine being. He had to tread carefully until he could get away from her.
She finally finished reading and set the book down before she answered him. Khaor nearly laughed aloud. "It's strange that you waited for me to nearly be killed before stepping in." he retorted. "I am a child to no one. My parents abandoned me before I even knew who they were. I have no one!" he yelled, his body straining again.
She asked him to lay back down which he agreed might be the best thing to do. He walked back to the couch and placed his back against the cushion, resting his head against the arm. He looked over at her to see she was washing and drying her hands. He couldn't sense any bad intentions from her. She seemed caring, honestly. However, he couldn't let his guard down. At any moment she could betray him like everyone else. She was a Goddess after all, who knew what she was capable of. If this were any other day Khaor would of been captivated by her beauty, honored to be in her presence.
Khaor noticed her look over to him to see if he had listened and he sort of shot her a "Really?" glance. She came over to him and told him to stay still in a demanding tone to which Khaor listened. He liked it when a woman was deman-No. He hates woman. They can't be trusted and neither could she. Her hands touched his bare skin in many different areas. He watched her, a bit in awe as she did so. If this were him from a few days ago he may have gotten aroused but none the less, it didn't budge. A part of Khaor really may have died a few days ago. His face looked frustrated as he had many mixed feelings. Would he never be able to love a woman again? A dead smile crossed his face as she asked if he needed something for the pain. "Nothing can fix this pain." he said in a cold tone.
He relaxed his body as she continued to doctor him up. Despite his hatred for woman, it was a bit difficult to keep his eyes off her. "I'm Khaor." he said, introducing himself. "What is it you want from me? I appreciate you saving my life, at the least. But didn't you hear them? I'm a rapist. A criminal." he whispered. "I'll never be able to buy anything around here and I lost everything. What could I possibly do for you?"

[nospaces] [attr="class","APwrapper"] [attr="class","APtop"] [attr="class","APicon"] [attr="class","APtri"] [attr="class","APpulse"] [attr="class","APtext"] One dark brow arched in her state of perplexion. She didn’t plan on giving him the satisfaction of an answer, knowing he wouldn’t accept her excuse, --but she was an honest woman. She didn’t save him, because he didn’t need to be saved. So she listened to him vex his anger and struggles as an echo of the broken faith he had in others. Once she was finished dressing his wounds, the Goddess moved to put away the remainder of the medicine and wash her hands once more. [break][break] “If the divines saw fit to step in at every battle, mortals would not grow individually,” she explained calmly, letting a moment pass before glancing back at the human, “You learned an appropriate lesson, one that you will likely take with you to the grave.” [break][break] Yet she knew he wouldn’t be sated with that answer, his curiosity and thirst for answers fueled his will. [break][break] “Khaor, I did not bring you back here because I want something from you. I am a goddess Izanami of creation and death. --If I desired something, I would help myself,” she said in affirmation, trying to reassure the shaken man that she did not have a hidden agenda. Izanami did not blame him for his lack of trust, having witnessed first hand the chaos that destroyed his mind. [break][break] She had no plan to betray him, -- no desire to gain another enemy. Instead, she sought retribution for him, and an opportunity for herself. [break][break] “Instead, I can offer you justice, in return for seeing how the events play out.”

Khaor lay quietly as she finished dressing his reopened wounds. Eventually she got up and walked back over to a table that had her supplies and put them all away, washing her hands after. "What makes you so different? You may be a Goddess but you still have a heart with feelings, a personality, and a mind like a mortal. You see, hear, feel, and think no differently than I. Experiences change you, just as it would me." he said, deciding not to continue comparing himself to her. "If the lesson I needed to learn was to trust no one and hate everyone then yes, the lesson was learned. I did nothing wrong, Izanami. If loving someone only to be betrayed and nearly killed is a lesson then I'd rather not have learned it. I'm done from here on out. The only people I will trust are people bound to me by slavery, people that can't betray me." he said, pained.
It wasn't like him to want to use slaves. He didn't think slavery was right, but he couldn't see himself progressing through his life by opening himself up again. "However, I don't like the idea of being cruel. If I obtain a slave I'll treat them properly. They'll be no use to me if they're half dead." he said, trying not to seem like he cared about their well being too much. "They're just tools to help me move forward."
As Izanami turned to him he grabbed a cloth from the couch and wrapped it around his waist. "Thank you for taking care of me." he said coldly. It was probably the coldest thank you someone could give. He listened to her words once more and closed his eyes, smiling."You're wrong, Izanami. Even if you did want something from me you couldn't just take it. There are things in this world you can't obtain just because you simply want it." he said, basically defying her. Most mortals wouldn't think to talk back to a Goddess but Khaor really had nothing else to lose. He wasn't most mortals and Goddess or not, he wasn't going to be beneath anyone any longer.
Khaor's eyes burned with resolve, "I am going to take this world for myself, Izanami. I'm going to be at the top. I'm going to prove what mortals are capable of and I am going to murder that bitch and anyone else who dares to get in my way. However, I am in no position to be your enemy. Right now, I am nothing. You didn't bring me here because you felt pity for me or because you want something from me. So, Izanami, what is it I want from you?" he asks, wondering what she had in mind.

[nospaces] [attr="class","APwrapper"] [attr="class","APtop"] [attr="class","APicon"] [attr="class","APtri"] [attr="class","APpulse"] [attr="class","APtext"] Immortality was both a detriment and a boon. While it was true she also had emotions, and desires like a mortal, they were on a different scale of grandeur. This was a factor that Khaor wouldn’t be able to come to terms with just by words alone; she would have to show him. [break][break] He already was coming up with solutions to move forward, not looking at the bigger picture, and the red string of fate that began to encompass the two of them. [break][break] Patiently she waited for him to finish his declaration of revenge, making sure not to smirk at his resolve. All the while she went to a cabinet and pulled out a dark glass bottle and two chalices from the shelf. Pulling the cork, she tediously poured the contents into the cup, listening to his question before offering him the wine. [break][break] “You said it yourself, you want vengeance, --and more, you want recognition,” she explained. Murder was something that he could do by himself, but the goddess knew that it wouldn’t be satisfactory enough. [break][break] “Yet…. death is too merciful of a punishment,” she commented before taking a sip from her cup, “Imagine them on their knees, humiliated just like you were. Everything being taken from them, --despair sweeping over them, begging to be killed by your hands in the end.” [break][break] She hesitated for a moment, letting everything she was saying sink in. “You could just find her and kill her,... but that will not award you the acknowledgement you deserve.” [break][break] “Simply put; -- I can offer you sanctuary, and power,” she finished. He was nothing, he had nothing, and many expected him dead. To her, he was a potential vessel to be built up, --and a tool of war.

Khaor stared her down as she went to the cabinet and poured two glasses of wine. Having only had wine once in his life he saw no need to refuse her offer and gratefully took the glass. Holding it to his nose he gave it a good sniff to check for poison. It was clean. Taking a sip he continued listening.
"You're right. Maybe death is too merciful. I have not quite decided what I will do with her just yet. It's the first day I've awoken since the incident but we'll come to terms with that when we get there." he said, taking a large drink from the glass. "You are right though. I do want to be acknowledge. I want to be someone. I'm done hiding in the shadows and playing nice. I won't let myself be fooled again and I will not be used, that includes you, Izanami." he said with a cold stare.
Khaor wanted to put his trust in her but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. She was beautiful and kind to him but those things mean nothing in the line of trust. "I accept your sanctuary but what power could you offer me?" he asks curiously before sitting back down on the couch. "I know you're a Goddess but I still can't grasp any way you could benefit from taking an interest in me. Everyone out on the streets thinks I'm a rapist and a criminal. There isn't a shop around that will sell to me."

[nospaces] [attr="class","APwrapper"] [attr="class","APtop"] [attr="class","APicon"] [attr="class","APtri"] [attr="class","APpulse"] [attr="class","APtext"] A delicate finger brushed against her neck before pushing her hair over her shoulder. She noticed him inhale the scent of the wine, not trusting her enough to not poison him. That woman really did a number on him, driving him to insecurity. It was a state of being that she related to once upon a time. [break][break] "We both want the same thing Khaor; You want revenge and justice for the crimes committed against you,... and I want to ruin their house reputation," she explained. The house that woman belonged to, had wronged Izanami previously, a long time ago even, and she wanted retribution, --she wanted to be able to return to heaven one day. "We already walk down the path side by side, it would be easy to hold hands while doing so." [break][break] Clearing her throat, Izanami shifted her weight to sit forward. She wanted to make sure that he would understand her point of view. "I give you the power to be invisible and start over; To change your identity, become an enigma, and an illusionary avenger," she said, her hands pressed against her lap, "Patience will lead to victory, grow strong in the dungeon, and when the time is right, --we can reveal them for what they truly are, a snake."
