| Seersha looked at the other dragon’s proffered hand from the corner of his eye, his face still angled to look at the ground. He didn’t want to offer more offense, but with instincts thrumming runrunrun he couldn’t bring himself to initiate anymore physical contact. So he pretended he didn’t see and stood without help, towering again over the crowd.
With the news the other was tribeless and the professed nervousness of his own, Seersha blinked and finally looked directly at him. How could that be? He looked like an formidable man all around, and to Seersha’s eye gave off an experienced fighter’s air. What tribe would have let him go alive? And what could such a manakete be nervous of? His mouth popped open in surprise. Had he fled too? Nerves and fear combated with a wave of curiosity.
“A meal is okay,” he said, surprising himself, “But why…” A little pause as he gathered his nerve. “Why would you pay…? I conceded?” What an odd tribe the other must be from. Just in case, to save his wallet from emptying, he edged towards the tavern only a short distance away. It was middle grade and nothing fancy, but cleaner than many if his memory served right. Of course, his mental map of the city wasn’t the best. But if Cassius had a place in mind, he’d not resist following. Already Seersha had his shoulders hunched a little, body tense as if waiting for a blow. But he was aware of himself again, and out of the initial panic. If another round of aggression sparked, he’d fight this time.

Sorry for my slow responses! Been really tired lately, and man Pancake hates me using any keyboard lmao. Typing this with him blocking half of the keys right now so sorry if these responces lack in any way
Faerynn Yeah, sounds great! Lmao, poor girl. Seersha doesn't set a good example for his kind with his kind, but sets a good example for his kind outside his kind lol. Putting them in one of those height comparison charts is really funny too btw. If you don't mind me being a really slow poster we can toss them together somewhere whenev.
nyarlathotep Yesssss! I love putting Seersha in uncomfortable and anxious situations because I am a huge bully to my character tbh. Though to be fair Seersha makes even thread uncomfortable just by being himself, but it'd be fun to have him seemingly getting along well while trying to combat his unnerved feeling. I think these two would get along well, and that Seersha could have easily ended up in his familia if metis hadn't found him first. Though he default fears gods thanks to his tribe's really bloodthitsy and fake patron dieties, so when that info popped it'd be funny. If you don't mind me being a really slow poster, I'm up to thread whenev

[attr="class","fg-post"] (lol, this is pretty much meet cute the thread)[break][break] The drunks swayed, leaning on each other to remain standing. Seesha’s slit pupiled gaze stared at them, mouth still open in dismay. One of them blanched, clinging convulsively at the other and nearly toppling them over. The other was too sauced for fear, and he wolf whistled. Seersha was made even more aware of what the situation looked like, with him trapping the smaller man against the wall of a secluded alley, and he would have pulled away if the cat hadn’t had his hands gripping onto his arms. Instead, he turned his face guiltily back, still stuck leaning over. [break][break]The cats ears were pinned back, and if they hadn’t been Seersha might have let himself notice his golden-brown lashes. Or being able to feel the ghosts of his breathing, or the way his fingertips where kneading into his biceps. Or the fact he hadn’t let his face to this close to another’s (fairies didn’t count) in years. But he didn’t let himself notice… M-Much. [break][break] “No, no, it’s my fault.” He insisted, biting his lower lip and furrowing his brows. “I really should have asked, I forget people aren’t used to it. I’ve become totally numb to it by this point.” He looked at the tail, still bent in a couple spots. [break][break] “I can bring you to a better healer I know… But he’s across town, and we’d probably have to… Rebreak it to reset it.” Seersha swallowed, and, with a bit of daring mixed with concern, put one of his hands under the cat’s arm to help hold him up. The amount the other was shaking worried him. He really just wanted to scoop him up, but was terrified the courtesan would think he’d gone from the frying pan and into the fire in being harassed. [break][break] “I don’t know of any place close,” he said, cheeks flushed red. His room had sprung to mind, but nervous butterflies in his stomach had screamed ‘don’t scare him more!’ at him until he’d swallowed the words. This meeting was already catastrophized enough. “But I can carry you anywhere you can think of! I’m, um, kind of strong now...” He said. | Seersha watched the other manakete approach in the corner of his eye, and his body tensed like a bow’s drawstring pulled tight. There was a little ripping sound at the sleeve of one bicep, but he didn’t have time to worry about it at the moment. He nodded at the question of if he understood, eyes still down and to the side.
please get up.
At the tone, Seersha moved to hastily obey, pushing himself off of his knees and onto his feet. His tail swept back behind him, and he would have grimaced at the slick feel of mud on scales if he’d had more attention to spare. However, in the process of getting up, he lurched to a stop as he saw the other manakete give him space and kneel down himself. In confusion, he paused, still squatting. Was this a trap? Seersha had yielded, he had no right to rise if the other was sitting.
“My name is Seersha. I am…” He paused, not knowing what he was supposed to say. “Nervous.” He blanched at the slip up. “Now tribeless.” He quickly said instead, reluctant to speak his ex-tribe’s name in case there’d been bad blood between them and whatever tribe the manakete in front of him came from.
“Oh, move it yer two. Yor blockin' all the bleedin' traffic wiv yor bulks.” A merchant said from behind Seersha, her arms full of bags of flour.

Faerynn Oh what a complicated tangle Seersha’s feelings for Faerynn would be! On one hand, she’s the same size he used to be, and so part of him would feel a ‘must protect’ myself, BUT on the other hand being reminded of himself would give him a bad taste. Bittersweet. And then to add onto that, Seersha’s spirit was broken and his tribe’s practices formed the scar tissue, so sometimes he would have these unbelievably strong and sudden intrusive thoughts to just like… Smack her over. Or grab her by the wings and throw her. Establish dominance through the pecking order. She looks like such an easy target even he - with his brain in ‘i’m a tiny struggling survivor’ mode - would go IMPROVE RANK. Whiiiich obviously would horrify him! He’d feel like he was regressing! GDI, seersha, how the fuck do you find a way to be afraid of a teeny girl? I swear to god

[attr="class","fg-post"] The skin of his palm stung, Seersha’s hand having convulsively tightened its grip on his tail when Lapine panicked. He ducked his head and hunched his shoulders, looking away from the sound on guilty reflex. He wanted to help, but it wasn’t as if he could bring himself to hurt a tiny fairy either, and the manakete feared any comfort he tried to offer would just have worse consequences. Luckily, it seemed to be handled on it’s own with the fairy’s hasty and sincere apologies. He watched the scene unfold until Metis offered him her hand. Seersha took it, too starstruck to avoid pulling with his full weight, but if gravity couldn’t effect her then that wouldn’t. [break][break] As they walked and Metis spoke about losing champions, the manakete hugged himself without being aware of it. He’d yet to venture into the dungeon, despite many people’s insistence he should use his new strength for the greater good. And as much as he hid it (specifically under his bed), it wasn’t as if he were immune to longing for gold and other shiny things. A dragon’s hoard. He felt selfish and small. Unworthy of being counted among the god’s chosen. [break][break] ”This is a sign of strength- not letting adversity turn you bitter and callus." Seersha flinched, eyes wide and mouth open. Had she been reading his thoughts? But-- Instantly all the horrible things he’d done flooded into his mind. Times when he had been bitter - times when he’d been cruel. The memories were like blisters underneath the surface, always ready to pop at the slightest pressure. He grit his teeth against them, shame coloring his cheeks and ears red. Seeing Lapine had focused some of them, making the phrase ‘rabbit stew, anyone?’ rattle around his head. Sharp bursts of pain flared against his palms again, this time his own claw tips biting into the flesh. [break][break] It was with difficulty he heard the rest of Metis’s words, but as the door opened and revealed the wonder inside Seersha’s mind went blissfully blank for a moment. He’d seen forests in his travels, but Seersha at his core was from the desert. To see all the life and abundance on display had him feeling numb with awe. He barely managed to stammer his name in return to the fairies that came over. [break][break] When the subject of exploring came up, the dragon looked at Metis and Lapine. His guilt was slinking back in, and he felt unworthy to press his presence onto them, as if he would stain them darker with the things playing out in his mind. [break][break] But… He was afraid to be alone here, in a god’s playground. “I wouldn't know where to start.” He admitted. “I got lost in the hallways, earlier... And I've only been through a couple jungles just sticking to paths and moving quickly.” He turned his attention to the monkey, who was just observing them. He’d never seen a creature like it before. | This was not the quick escape Seersha had in mind. With the adrenaline flooding his system and making him quiver in the numb-tingling of panic, he initially didn’t comprehend what had happened. He assumed his horn had just withstood a blow aimed to the side of his head, and reverberation that rattled his teeth was evidence. But as he continued to bull forward a few steps, the crowd parting around him like a school of confused fish in the face of a shark, he could feel a force pulling his head backwards and down. Seersha tried to raise to his full height to scope out another escape, but there was something weighing him.
His horn was a handle, yet again. The other manakete was grabbing it and yanking back - he couldn’t ecaspe, couldn’t escape--
But then he was free, and his brain sluggishly processed seeing the other manakete pull their locked horns apart from the corner of his eye. Seersha faced him so his back wouldn’t be exposed. A crowd had formed a small ring around the pair, probably anticipating a fight that might be entertaining. He’d have to knock people over to get out, but then that still left a clog of people behind them to--
“I just wanted to talk!”
Seersha flinched away from the yell, taking in the fighting stance of the other, and the bubble of his resistance popped and melted into despair. Unbidden, he made a long low sound, a whimpering keen that seemed bizarre and uncomfortable coming from someone his size and build. He tucked his wings against his back tightly, curled his tail between his legs, and went to his knees. Eyes listless and looking at the ground he titled his head to bare his throat to the other manakete. It was a process he’d done many times in his life. Showing his tribe’s signals of defeat; of submission.
“Do what you will.” He said dully in the dragontongue of his clan, a short and hissing language. It was mortifying. It always was. He would bristle in shame at all the eyes of the crowd on him if all his emotions hadn’t been scorched out by the adrenaline.
“That’s it?” He heard someone say, distantly, from the crowd. A boo from another direction, picked up by another few people, robbed of their impromptu entertainment.

[attr="class","fg-post"] The courtesan came out, clutching his tail and looking like a ghost from the paleness of pain and powdered mortar. Seersha had not yet much expertise at telling the beast races apart, but the thundering purr clued him in and confused him at once. It was only when a memory of a the wildcat with a broken leg he’d tried to save clicked into his mind that he recalled purring could also be a sign of agony. With how loud the other was being… Seersha swallowed convulsively, his chest tight. Tail twitching in guilt and sympathy, he leaned forward to more closely inspect the damage. [break][break] It looked bad, broken in not just one, but two places. Are you a healer? The question echoed in his mind. Seersha was a healer, but… Sure, he’d fixed things similar to this in the past, but… He sat back on his heels, hesitating. The more stable and competent healer of his troupe’s lodgings were all the way across town, and there was no guarantee the notorious flirt would even be there. The trip would be incredibly painful, even if the little ghost allowed Seersha to carry him there. And he was too new to know of any local doctors.[break][break] He risked a glance into the courtesan’s face, noting with some embarrassment he certainly was well equip for his profession. The manakete could feel himself flush by the warmth in his ears and along the scales of his cheeks, but hoped it would be unnoticable. It just wasn’t very often that he talked to people outside of his bard’s group. He would have blushed with anyone. Surely. Ahem. [break][break] It was probably a mixture of wanting to flee and wanting to impress that tipped his indecision over. “Yes, I should be able to handle this,” Seersha said with more confidence than he felt. He looked over his shoulder, ensuring no one else was near.[break][break] “I’m, um, I’m going to move closer,” he warned, before shuffling over until he was right in front of him and hopefully out of earshot to anyone else. He needed as much concentrated force as he could manage for his spell, and it became more diluted the more ears to hear it. “Sorry, I don’t mean anything by this. I won’t hurt you.” This was said awkwardly. He sat up onto his knees and leaned over the cat, placing his arms to either side above him, creating an isolated space. [break][break] It was be a piece of cake!! He told himself, desperately, forcing to two exclamations into his thoughts. It wasn’t awkward and embarrassing at all! Then he began to sing. [break][break] He hadn’t mastered his baritone yet, so he avoided any of the trickier notes that he’d been particularly proud of as a soprano. But it was still warm and controlled, and magic rippled in the spaces. He kept his eyes closed tight and the words in his mother tongue, trying to distance the nervous embarrassment of basically pinning a stranger in an alleyway. Seersha didn’t notice a couple of drunks stumble in behind him to listen until he’d stopped. Their scattered applause made him startle, turning around to look at them in horror and then whipping his head back to the tail that would have just barely been fixed perfectly if the song had been targeted to the cat alone. I hope beginner/weak monsters are okay? Obviously no need to use any if not, and I'll make up some new ones. MONSTER NAME: Hemlock MONSTER DROPS: common: shed skin: patchy reptile skin that glistens iridescent purple and warns of poisonous nature. potion ingredient, or able to be rubbed on weapons for a one time weak poison effect. rare syringe fang. The fangs of a hemlock are hollow and perfect vessels for being crafted into venom delivery tools for assassins. DESCRIPTION: A small lizard able to shed it's skin when grabbed, they're small and weak, yet pack a powerful venomous bite that inflicts poison. These creatures like the hide in dark corners and crags and strike unsuspecting adventurers. ICON:MONSTER NAME:Honeydew MONSTER DROPS: common: honey. adventurer, are you sure you want to eat that...? It looks like honey, and tastes like honey, so does the source really matter? Honey is well valued by many different crafts in the city, particularly in the cooking profession. Also keeps minor wounds from festering when applied as a salve. rare eye of goop. more sought after than eye of newt, this potion ingredient can be hard to tell from a normal pebble. eating it gives the player slightly enhanced night vision for half an hour. DESCRIPTION: By itself this slime enemy nothing to worry about. It will flee from adventurers, but those that follow are lead into traps. Able to gloop together with others of it's kind, it will engulf victims in it's viscous honey-like body and attempt to suffocate them. ICON: MONSTER NAME: Red Plague MONSTER DROPS: common small horn. a small bug horn that traditional medicine loves. said to increase virility (dubious) rare plague pelt. Aaah, be careful adventurer! Keep this pelt contained because you don't want to get it on yourself. DESCRIPTION: Despite it's alarming name, red plagues don't carry any pestilent diseases. They got their name based on the hairs of their body, which can be scattered and shot up to 8 feet from itself. These hairs upon contact with skin makes the area so incredibly itchy people have legitimately scratched their own skins off. So if an adventurer comes out of the dungeon looking like they've caught fast acting leprosy, people know these little guys are to blame. These tend to stay in small groups near watering holes and need to be taken out from afar. ICON:

[attr="class","fg-post"] Seersha had a great deal of experience with frightened animals, and it was coming in handy here. Though he didn’t think about it consciously, there was something soothing about soothing someone else. It let him distance himself from his own inner turmoil; focus outward for a change. So he stayed sitting and still while the rabbit girl stuttered, relieved and guilty both as she tried to assuage his guilt. [break][break] I really really like your voice! Seersha paused, his mouth still open from where he was about to introduce himself back. Blinking a couple times in surprise at the sudden outburst, he ducked his head and smiled shyly back. Then he remembered the whole huge-fangy business and rubbed his nose to hide it until he could martial it into the closed lip variety. [break][break] “Thank you, Lapine. My name is Seersha.” [break][break] He cast around for something to compliment her back on that wouldn’t sound threatening. He couldn’t really see the stuffed animal now that she had her face pressed into it, but… “I like your doll.” He said - and then something smacked into his face. [break][break] Seersha jerked back and looked at Metis with scared eyes, sure he’d somehow angered her and that she was giving him a warning shock of some kind. It took him a minute to notice the fairies, turning his head this way and that for the source of the thin voices. In fact, it wasn’t until the tiny creature with a pink belt landed on his horn. The manakete struggled to focus on it, his mind usually erasing his own horns from view as much as humans usually forgot they constantly were seeing their own noses. [break][break] “Hello,” he answered back, baffled and timid. “It’s, um, it’s interesting.” Straining his eyes to watch her swing. “Maybe? I saw a water fall, and there were plants…?He froze when she zipped up to his eye: afraid that his lashes would somehow bat her down from the air. [break][break] “C-cute?” He hadn’t been called that in months, ever since he changed. The house of wonders was again quickly becoming the house of confusion. Seersha felt the tiniest pressure on his shoulder and then his cheek, but he didn’t turn to look lest his horns knock her off. When she mentioned kiss he grimaced, pushing away the spikes of negative associations he had with the word. [break][break] Luckily Metis spoke, and he quickly turned his head towards her, possibly dislodging the fairy on accident. At this point the manakete kind of wanted to crawl home with his tail between his legs and hide under his blankets, but he was loathe to admit such a thing to the goddess. [break][break] “C-certainly..?” He said, his grip on his tail tightening. It didn’t come out as confidently as he’d hoped.
