[attr="class","MYNtopimg"] [attr="class","MYNlyric"] or if i kill you [attr="class","MYNtriangle"] [attr="class","MYNpostwrap"] [attr="class","MYNpostbox"] "Hehehe, Lady Death will smile on us tonight." a voice said while dragging his sacrificial offering onto a stone table in the middle of a cemetary. As the ethereal chains tightened around his wrists, Niyol tugged at them, trying to break them with what little strength he had left. To think that only forty humans could bring him to this state was seemingly absurd, but when you consider the fact that it was forty humans using magic specifically made for that one purpose, it began to make more sense. [break][break] Niyol had been roaming the wilds for a few weeks, keeping an eye out for anyone who looked familiar, or at least spoke one of his languages. Unfortunately for him, there was none. He'd woken up in the middle of the woods with nothing but the clothes on his back, so his survival up till now had been off of hunting and gathering- something he was adept at doing. 'Damn these chains.' he thought while tugging harder, this time managing to at least get his hands off the altar before the four men holding them gave another hard tug. "This one's a strong fella, isn't he?" one of the men keeping Niyol restrained said while trying to keep the chain down. "Don't worry, it'll be done soon enough, and we'll all be welcome as champions in our lady's home." [break][break] Niyol had relaxed his muscles and closed his eyes, making it seem as though he had given up, or passed out. The men holding him hesitantly relaxed, one of the twenty men assigned to one of his four limbs had said "Finally." Niyol's left eye opened and he shouted "Mwen pral touye ou tout!" while also grabbing the chains around his wrists and swinging his arm. The chain smacked a man square in his jaw, knocking the ridiculous looking mask off his face to reveal a tattooed-to-hell mug that even a mother with down syndrome wouldn't love. He kicked his feet up and slammed them down hard, forcing himself onto his feet to stand on the altar. Swinging the chains had caused the men to back up. Some of them began cursing the others for letting go of the chains, even though they had done the exact same thing. [break][break] The sounds of battle echoed through the world around as Niyol tried his absolute best to take down the cultists, but he was at a disadvantage. The mana of this world was weak, and he was running low on internal magic power. The souls around him that he could use were extremely old, and provided very little energy; and, worst of all, the cultists around him were using magic that countered his own. Twenty two out of forty-ish cultists had been taken down before Niyol was restrained once more. His clothes were heavily torn, his body covered in cuts, burns, and blood- some of it his own, some of it not. [break][break] Anyone passing by would see torches in the distance, casting a gentle, orange glow from where their ritual was taking place. When they arrived, they would find the men and women gathered around Niyol, all silent with the exception for their leader, who was giving some form of sermon. Niyol didn't understand any of it, he just knew that he needed to kill these people and get the hell out of dodge. Easier said than done when he was suffering from mana deficiency. Is this how he was gonna go out? After everything he's been through? After destroying entire kingdoms, bringing armies to their knees, killing the unkillable... Was he really about to be killed by some freaks in black robes? [attr="class","ALPpostwrap"] “You summoned me?” Alura asked, crossing the threshold into her Goddesses study. Only a few minutes prior, she received a notice that the divine was in need of her assistance, though the details were inconveniently missing. [break][break] “The guerrilla’s have returned,” Izanami had replied, her answer short and curt, but the adventurer knew full well to what she referenced, “I tracked their activity to just on the outskirts of the Seolo forest, --needless to say I am concerned about any drastic actions these fanatical renegades have planned.”[break][break] “Understood,” the woman replied, knowing what the goddess was asking of her. [break][break] “Take a few with--” Izanami started before she was cut short by the words of her follower. [break][break] “I have it handled. I know who to bring, and I will not alert any outside sources,” Alura answered confidently. In the past she had to go toe to toe with the self same group before driving them from the city. However, they were back, and the damage they could cause would be significant. With her goddesses’ permission, the adventurer prepared, then following the instructions laid clear by her divine. [break][break] It didn’t take long to reach her destination, the sun setting behind the mountain range to the north and casting a shadow over the horizon. From the peaks of the trees, she overlooked the valley, her gaze resting on the smoke the plumed out from the foliage. [break][break] The light from their torches danced as she grew near. Sounds from a battle taking place and her heart quickened with her pace. She sprinted through the trees, her lance held behind her as she crossed the short distance and emerged from the trees. [break][break] Immediately she took in the situation, processing the fallen bodies and those that stood surrounding a tall bloodied frame. She didn’t have the time to ask what they planned to do with him, and she had a few guesses, but instead moved forward to surprise them. They had their backs turned to her initially, but her presence was quickly made apparent. [break][break] “The Goddess sends her minions!” one of them cried out in horror, knowing that Alura meant to snuff them out tonight, “She is not pleased with the sacrifice alone, we will have to take all three.” [break][break] Delusional fanatics, all of them. [break][break] Magical energy pulsed, though it was countered by her two companions. Like her, they were blessed by Izanami, and possessed the power to shield against the terrorists’ attacks. [break][break] With a firm hand, Alura yanked back on a cultists robes before he could do any more damage to the victim. He was pulled to the ground where her small and lithe frame held a spear to his neck. [break][break] “You do not get to live this time,” she growled, “Izanami does not recognize you, nor will she ever. Enter the afterlife.” The last words she said to the cult before they were all cold on the ground. [break][break] On her knees, she leaned close in to the beaten man. From at a glance she was able to discern that he fought them long and tirelessly. A pulse, --he still had one. “Can you hear me?” she asked him. [attr="class","ALPtag"] NIYOL

[nospaces] [attr="class","MNYwrapper"] [attr="class","MYNwrap"] [attr="class","MYNlyric"] you only truly die when you give up on being alive ..... [attr="class","MYNtopimg"] [attr="class","MYNlyric"] or if i kill you [attr="class","MYNtriangle"] [attr="class","MYNpostwrap"] [attr="class","MYNpostbox"] No. It would seem that this was not how he would die- not surrounded by freaks in black robes, but rather, surrounded by corpses. This was something that Niyol could accept. Him and his god-soul would be sent to the afterlife, thrown into the aetherflame, and reborn into a new body. Or, at least, that's how it worked in his former world. Meanwhile, the souls of these men and women, who were delusional enough to think that their god would love them for killing a balance-maintaining entity, would remain forever in the afterlife to suffer. [break][break] He forced himself to stay conscious when he heard the commotion start, hearing the new voice. She was displeased, but didn't sound like she was truly the executioner, but rather, some kind of extension of them. Niyol could only see darkness, with a very faint, blurred, central visual range. Silence had befallen the cemetery and he saw the face of a woman in what little detail he could... She felt his neck and asked something, or so it sounded like a question. He couldn't understand, however, the woman would get a single word as her reply... "Mèsi (meh-see)." His already charcoal eyes had turned dull before closing. His mind went blank, giving him his first run in with the affliction this world called 'zero-mind' and what his last one called 'magic deficiency.' [break]
Later...
[break] After time had passed, either because his supply of magic power had been restored to acceptable levels, or because he was unconscious long enough to regenerate it on his own (3 days); Niyol would begin shifting. At first, it would be something incredibly small, the twitch of a finger. Then, he would move his entire hand, flexing it as though he were trying to grab something. The chains would still be attached to his wrist, though, significantly shorter than before. While he could feel the shackles and grab the two-foot long, ethereal-steel chains, it would be obvious that he wasn't trying to grab those. His movements would suggest that he were trying to grab not something, but someone- he was looking for someone's hand. After four or five unsuccessful grabs, he would stop, and remember where he was and what happened. [attr="class","ALPpostwrap"] Dark orbs darkened, consciousness fading from the stranger as she tried to aid him. She recognized the symptoms of mind zero, knowing that he wouldn’t waken for quite some time, --depending on how vast his stores of magic power are. Not only that, but he had some particularly nasty wounds that needed some immediate attention. [break][break] The trip back to the city of Orario was long and arduous, a large boaz carrying the cultist victim the whole way home. They brought him to the domain of their goddess, as her large palace had plenty of room and supplies to accommodate the stranger. [break][break] Izanami’s reaction to the potential scapegoat intrigued Alura. Surprise was an expression that the goddess normally never shared, and upon touching the man, the goddess immediately retreated to her study without saying a word. [break][break] Alura had the man cleaned, and his wounds dressed, though he still didn’t wake. It wasn’t normal that Mind Zero would keep someone asleep for so long. All the while she thought back on to what he said to her before passing out. It was a word she didn’t identify, though she didn’t know other languages. [break][break] ‘Where did he come from?’ [break][break] A whole twelve hours had passed before Izanami returned, and in her hand was a pouch of viscous liquid. It radiated magical energy and had an interesting color, which piqued the adventurer’s curiosity as she watched the goddess insert a hollow needle into the arm of the man, letting the liquid drip into his system. [break][break] Alura asked, though Izanami refused to answer, merely putting a hand on the woman’s shoulder in a gesture of trust. The divine was asking that she would put faith in her and her methods, to which Alura nodded in response. [break][break] 24 hours later than the incident, Alura posted herself at his bedside, watching him attempt to move. His hand moved across the soft texture of the bed, and his fingers tightened. Crimson eyes gazed down at his attempts, recognizing what is was he trying to do, and once he stopped, the female adventurer slowly moved her hand to cusp his own. [break][break] She wanted him to know he wasn’t alone. [attr="class","ALPtag"] NIYOL

[nospaces] [attr="class","MNYwrapper"] [attr="class","MYNwrap"] [attr="class","MYNlyric"] you only truly die when you give up on being alive ..... [attr="class","MYNtopimg"] [attr="class","MYNlyric"] or if i kill you [attr="class","MYNtriangle"] [attr="class","MYNpostwrap"] [attr="class","MYNpostbox"] A hand... soft to the touch, but strength flowed through the owner. Niyol didn't recognize this energy, and then, he remembered the other part of what happened- when he was fighting. Startled, rage and fear surged through him and the chains shackled to his wrist moved to swat at Alura's hand. At the same time, his legs quickly shot up with a blackish-blue energy erupting from his torso, crushing the bed and launching Niyol to the ceiling. His bare feet stuck to the wall and he held his hand to his side, manifesting a spear-like weapon. The bottom of the weapon had a standard spear tip attached to a black pole, leading seven feet up to a tip that was three spikes coming from the inside of a circle. From the way he was holding it, the oddly shaped end was clearly the actual spear tip, and not the end that looked like it should be. From his back, the outline of a pair of black, feathered, birdlike wings could be seen manifesting itself and they had gotten quite close to forming when suddenly, they vanished. "Kisa!?" Niyol exclaimed with wide eyes, a couple seconds before the magic keeping him attached to the wall vanished and he dropped like a rock, crashing onto the already broken beed. "Oof!" he said upon hitting the padded surface. Well, at least he didn't land on something sharp. [break][break] Laying on his back with his spear not too far away, Niyol looked at the ceiling and blinked with a confused expression on his face. It wasn't his hideout in the woods, that was for sure... It was a lot nicer and less... leafy. His charcoal eyes slowly rolled up and to the side to look at Alura. She looked... familiar. He couldn't quite recognize her since he was seeing her through the eyes of someone who wasn't almost dead. Some of his magic had been restored, and he could feel a connection with the spirits of this world, still. His abilities weren't suppressed, but rather, his abilities required so much magic to use that he had used up what little he had by just manifesting his scythe. Niyol lifted his hand and looked at it, flexing the muscles a couple of times. "Vivan?" he questioned, thinking out loud. [break][break] He rolled over and grabbed his spear to begin getting up but quickly began to stumble as soon as he was vertical. Niyol used his spear as a prop to keep himself up and get his rear on a sofa that was against the wall. He looked at Alura with extremely fierce eyes that, if not for his panting and blatant forcing of his eyes to stay open, would suggest he were going to cut right through her. "Kiyes ou ye? Ki kote ou te pran m '?" he asked while panting. He then raised the spear and aimed the tip at Alura, asking "Ki sa ki konplo ou a?" His hand was shaking, the weight of the spear too much for his tired limbs to support. It was clear that the only thing keeping him from dropping the spear was sheer willpower. [break][break] The spear began lowering when something caught his attention. Niyol lowered it to lean against the sofa and began sniffing the air. He could tell the other balancing force was present, somewhere nearby, but not within immediate arm's reach. It was strong on the woman, and the balancing force had been in the room. He looked at Alura with less fierce, but still highly defensive eyes, and asked "Kote Bondye ou ye?" as though he honestly expected her to understand him. [break][break] Niyol's expression would shift to being less defensive as he looked at the woman. He hadn't spent much time talking to these people, but he did remember his other world. He knew basic interaction, and if this woman or her god were going to kill him, they would have done it. Niyol lifted the spear straight up and pushed down, using it as a prop to help him get up. The spear would still be shaking as he held it with one hand, placing his free hand on his chest. "Non mwen se Niyol." He would say in the calmest tone he could. If Alura hadn't given her name, or had shown signs of confusion, he would say "Ni-yol." while patting his own chest. "Niyol." he would repeat immediately after. "Non ou?"[break][break] Whether she gave her name or not, Niyol would begin approaching her. His stance would suggest no aggression, it was much too slow. On top of that, he was using the spear as a walking stick, still shaking as he used his strength to keep himself up. Niyol would get extremely close if Alura allowed it, close enough that if she wanted to, she could reach out and punch him on the spot, and he wouldn't be able to dodge it at all. Assuming he got close enough, he would look her in the eyes with an uncanny amount of focus, his pupils -barely distinguishable from the iris- would get smaller as he did so. He didn't look down at any point, he knew better, and he wasn't interested in what was below her eyes. [break][break] Alura would find Niyol slowly extending his free hand. Shaking from him pushing himself too much, his hand would gently take her own and begin pulling it forward just a bit. Niyol's eyes would look down at her hand, held in his -again, if she allowed it- and his expression would grow softer. "Mwen dezole" he would say in a tone that sounded apologetic and sincere. From then, a hard tug would pull Alura into him and with what may as well be the best aim in the world, Niyol would press his lips against her's. [attr="class","ALPpostwrap"] She didn’t hold his hand for long; he wouldn’t let her, as he immediately reacted defensively. Her hand reeled back to safety, startling her into backing up from the bed. Her eyes tracked him as he leapt up from the bed in a surge of power, landing horizontally against the ceiling. [break][break] As he hung there, she was dumb struck with confusion, barely just missing the weapon he manifested in his hand. This was his magic, she could tell that much at least, and his stance gave off the impression that he wanted to fight. [break][break] She didn’t have her weapon here however to counter him, and instead would have to rely on dodging any advancement if he made one. Alura grimaced, her brows furrowing as she glanced back towards the bed, “You are gonna have to pay for that!,” she called up to him before she realized he was falling. [break][break] Whatever force held him to the ceiling plane, didn’t keep him there, and he appeared to be just as confused as she was. Still keeping her distance, the woman watched as he struggled to get up and move around. He should still be resting, but was apparently a very stubborn fool. [break][break] The language he spoke was one she had never heard and she did not understand anything other than the demeanor he portrayed, --Including when he pointed his weapon at her; to which she responded by raising her hands in a form of surrender or peace. [break][break] This man was strange. He looked strange, acted strange, and felt strange. However, not in a negative fashion. Alura was actually curious about who he was and where he came from, and maybe why the cult wanted him. [break][break] "Non mwen se Niyol."[break][break] Her head tilted in confusion, and he repeated a fraction of the phrase a few times more. It was his name, --Niyol. [break][break] “A-Alura…” she responded, trying to keep up with his gestures. She still showed an amount of caution as he walked closer, and she stepped backwards until her body touched the wall behind her. [break][break] He stared at her, his eyes locked on her own in a mesmerizing fashion. It served as a distraction for the sudden movement which caused her to step forward into him. Their bodies touched, lips embracing one another in a kiss. [break][break] Her eyes grew wide with surprise before she retaliated swiftly, her teeth biting down hard upon his bottom lip with enough force to draw blood, and her fist clenched tightly. Pulling back from the man, she reared her shoulder back before sending her fist forward in an attempt to knock him right in the jaw. [attr="class","ALPtag"] NIYOL

A bite on the lip after a couple of moments came right before being shoved and punched by a clearly angry Alura. Niyol had taken a few steps back, or rather, a large stagger as it actually played out as, and used his spear to balance himself. He was gripping his head, but not in either of the places that the headstrong woman had hurt him at. It was the front-top of his skull he was grabbing. "That always hurts." he said in nigh perfect Orarian. He began making his way back to the sofa where he sat down. He sat with his arms resting on his legs, body hunched over and eyes to the floor. "Orario..." he said in a soft tone, trying to make sense of his situation. [break][break] If Alura had tried to speak before a few minutes could pass, Niyol would hold up his hand and say "Please, I need a moment." in a slightly pained, but respectful tone that carried no signs of his former defensiveness. If Alura had waited for him to be ready to talk, Niyol would say "Thank you for waiting." Regardless of which happened, Niyol would, after five or so minutes, turn his head up to face Alura and say "You've got a good swing." referring to the punch she gave him. "Though, stopping at just one was more mercy than I was expecting." he added shortly after. [break][break] Niyol took a couple seconds to breathe, giving Alura a chance to reply if she so chose to before saying "I didn't do that because I felt like kissing a beautiful woman, I promise you that I'm not like that. It's a spell..." Niyol paused long enough to let out a pained grunt while also rubbing his forehead again. "I used it to... learn your entire language. As you can imagine, I'm not particularly fond of the casting method." He took a deep breath before saying "Normally involves getting hit... and then a headache that hurts more than my face." [break][break] He shifted in his seat and said "Now, I went and gave you an answer, so I have a question... those eyes. Are you the one who saved me?" he asked. If Alura had said yes, then Niyol would reply with "Thank you. You prevented quite the inconvenience." If Alura had inquired about why the defining feature for Niyol remembering was her eyes, Niyol would reply "I prefer not to make a habit of flirting with the people who save me." It was his own subtle way of telling her that her eyes were so beautiful that the haze of unconsciousness couldn't make him forget. [break][break] If Alura had asked about where he came from, Niyol would say "Somewhere." if Alura had asked for more specificity, he would say "A place you'll never be able to go to." If she pushed the question further, Niyol would say "Ask Izanami." and leave it at that. Where the cultists were concerned, Niyol would say "Even where I'm from, cultists are all insane. Sacrifice something to your deity of choice and that deity will shower you with their undying love. I'd guess it's the same here." [break][break] After that, Niyol would ask "What can you tell me about this place? Izanami, why is she walking among mortals? What's in it for you, for her?" If Alura had pointed out the fact that Niyol could've just learned all of that from his little spell, he would say "If I did that, then would you be left with any reasons to trust me? Would you be able to look me in the eye and think for a second that I didn't learn your entire life, including every secret you've kept till now? I had you teach me your language and who Izanami was- nothing more, nothing less." If Alura had asked why Izanami's identity was of importance, he would say "That's between the two of us." [attr="class","ALPpostwrap"] First impressions were always important, and her immediate intuition told her that Niyol was dangerous. He possessed powers that she had never heard of, and his methods were precarious, causing an amount of uncertainty to build up in the adventurer. [break][break] He staggered from her hit, though it was not his jaw that he felt the sting of pain, but rather his head. Suddenly, as if a switch flipped he spoke so that she could understand. “Hold up--” she started before he raised his hand in protest. It was a move she often saw from Izanami, but Alura didn’t kindly take to being silenced. [break][break] Despite his praise, she scowled, having ‘waited’ for him to finally get his bearings. She sympathized him, at least a little bit, but not enough to justify for his actions. [break][break] Either way, he granted her the questions she wanted, in return for his own answers. She was the one that had saved him, and she was surprised to find that he remembered the image of her eyes. While they were an emboldened feature of her’s, they were often not the first characteristic she was identified by. [break][break] At the end, she found herself having even more questions, mostly concerning the relationship of Izanami and this stranger. Perhaps they knew each other from before, but that wouldn’t explain how he had no knowledge about her. [break][break] “Centuries ago, gods descended from the heavens to live on the surface. Groups of mortals flocked to the gods because they offer us the ‘Blessing’ to strengthen us,” she explained, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall behind her, “If you have no knowledge of that history, then you really must be from far away. --Gods created this lower world and all the countries on the earth.”[break][break] “I can tell you have unfinished business with my goddess. I can fetch her if that is what you want.” [attr="class","ALPtag"] NIYOL

The explanation from Alura had left Niyol with more questions than he had answers, and had even left one question unanswered. The girl had offered to go get Izanami, this world's resident Goddess of Death, which was quite convenient for Niyol. It meant that he no longer needed to come up with an elaborate scheme to draw her out, and he also wouldn't need to go through any lengths to find her, just to have a conversation. It also meant he didn't need to do anything that would deplete his already non-existent magic power levels. Niyol had said "I would appreciate that, Alura." Once she had begun making her way to the door, Niyol would say "Alura." to get her attention one last time. "I'm a man playing a new game, a king in someone else's kingdom. I don't know the rules, so I don't know what I'm allowed to tell you. But I promise, I'll repay you for your troubles." [break][break] Once Alura had left, Niyol would begin flexing his hands again to try and get some mana flowing in them. Once the goddess had arrived, Niyol would look up. If Alura was in the room, Niyol would say "I respectfully request that this conversation be private, Lady Death. I doubt you'll have any trouble disposing of a man with barely enough magic power to sustain his own life force." His tone was calm and respectful, far more humble than most would expect of a god. If Izanami had refused it, Niyol would say "Very well. Any potential consequences, I leave in your hands." If Izanami had dismissed Alura, he would thank her. If Alura wasn't present at all, then Niyol would make no such request. [break][break] The very first thing Niyol would ask is "Do you know what I am?" referencing to the fact that he was the god of death from another place entirely. Once she had answered, Niyol would say "I see." and give a couple seconds to examine the woman. "I'm going to establish something. I'm not from here, and I serve no gods." he said to establish that he didn't belong to any familias. "I was summoned here by the cultists that Alura killed, but these..." Niyol raised his wrist and shook it, making the chains jingle "...These belong to someone else." Niyol straightened up and folded one leg over his other. "Seeing as you're the leader, a question is raised by my predicament. Am I your prisoner?" Regardless of her answer, yes or no, he would reply with a very simple "I see. Thank you." He would take a breath and ask "You got any questions for me? You know, before I barrage you with mine." [attr="class","ALPpostwrap"] His declaration came as a surprise to her, unable to imagine that he would feel guilty about his methods. Either way, she appreciated the sentiment and nodded in response before promptly leaving the room. Part of her was glad she could finally get away from him, but another fraction felt disappointed that she wouldn’t satisfy her curiosity. Alura would respect the privacy between him and her goddess. [break][break] Izanami wasn’t in her study like normal, and instead after extra time spent, the adventurer found the elusive god in the kitchens, watching over the chefs preparing a meal. “Izanami-sama,” Alura said, interrupting the goddess giving directions, “Niyol--.......The strange man wants to be graced with your presence,” she said, glancing around the room. “... is all of this for him? It’s too early to be preparing dinner..” Alura inquired, not knowing what game her goddess was playing at. Why go through such lengths for him, --he already broke a bed! [break][break] It wouldn’t take convincing for the goddess, as she already anticipated the upcoming meeting. Instead, she made her way to the guest room where the stranger was stationed, followed by a servant who wheeled up the meal on a cart. [break][break] Izanami entered the room, had the server leave the cart near the door and promptly closed it. She had faith that none of her faithful followers would not dare to eavesdrop on the two, --not that they needed to anyways. [break][break] “Please eat,” she asked before taking a look around the room to inspect the damage. What’s more, is she felt the presence of his magic here in a much stronger form than when he was unconscious. It was both familiar and strange at the same time. Comforting. [break][break] “I have no detailed knowledge of what you are, all I know is what I feel,” she answered. The god had been alive since creation, and while she had a mortal mind, she had an immortal heart and had no understanding of his existence throughout history. [break][break] “You are no prisoner of mine Niyol,” she explained, clarifying that she had no hand in the actions of the cultists, “Where they got the power to summon an entity from another plane is beyond me. I suspect some foul play amongst the gods here; it is the only feasible answer.” [break][break] Stepping closer, Izanami also sat on the couch, though on the opposite end of Niyol. “I can sense you carry your own magical power, though it has not replenished since you have come to my mansion. I have come to the conclusion that it is because magic does not exist freely in this land. It is solely infused in certain aspects of this world, in the form of crystals, and rare pockets of the earth. The elves currently occupy such a place…. If you wish to recuperate your stores, we have options, --especially if it can help you return to your home world.” [attr="class","ALPtag"] NIYOL
